NURARQ Menorca Archaeology and Culture, is the company which manages the Talayotic site of Torralba d’en Salort (Alaior, Menorca), one of the most important and spectacular archaeological sites on the island and the Balearics. The company (devoted to heritage management, cultural tourism, education and archaeological research) is set up by two archaeologists whose main aim is to disseminate Torralba’s and Menorca’s archaeological, historical and cultural heritage through a set of cultural activities.
Our management plan in this site focuses on the implementation of several actions, such as the site’s safeguard and improvement through its maintenance; the diffusion of the site’s History through several activities designed for all audiences; and its scientific research, with the aim of obtaining more information about the site.
I have always loved Medieval History and Archaeology….and as a result, I specialized in Medieval History. However, as I grew both professionally and personally and got more experience, I expanded my interests and that is how Roman archaeology became one of my central focuses too. This is why I also have a MA in Ancient Mediterranean, specializing in Classical Archaeology.
I form part of the team that excavates and researches Sa Cudia Cremada archaeological site, where I am also the coordinator at its archaeological field school and one of the research project’s codirectors. I also codirect the excavations at Torralba d’en Salort. As an archaeologist, I have worked in projects in Scotland, southern England, the Iberian Peninsula and Menorca.
Born in Menorca, I have always been very passionate about Archaeology. This is why I was trained as an archaeologist by studying a BA in History and a MA in Ancient History. For more than 10 years I have increased my experience by participating in several archaeological digs in Menorca, Mallorca and Egypt. I currently codirect the excavation projects at Sa Cudia Cremada and Torralba d’en Salort.
Due to the interest that many people have for Ancient cultures, one of my main objectives is to approach Menorca’s Talayotic Culture to all audiences. I this way, we set up NURARQ and focus all our efforts in the management of Torralba d’en Salort, where we carry out outreach and touristic activities for people to learn about and enjoy our amazing Past.
Amics de Torralba (Friends of Torralba) is the archaeological association in charge of carrying out archaeological research at the site. Find out more about the main tasks we do!
